Cellulite is a term used to express a visible physical change, resulting in an uneven skin texture. Cellulite is a natural process in females induced by the hormone oestrogen. Males have relatively small amounts of oestrogen therefore have very little cellulite.
Oestrogen stimulates the collagenase formation in the fibroblast, and the collagenase breaking down muscle fibres. When collagen is relaxed or weakened, the superficial fascia weakens and gives way, and the fat bulges upward creating a wavy surface. Therefore the underlying cause of cellulite is weakened connective tissue.
There are three Classifications of Cellulite Hard Cellulite, soft Cellulite and Endomatous Cellulite. All three can be treated. With consultation our Practitioner would be able to determine which type you have and offer the correct treatment protocols for you. Ultrasound may be used. Treatments would be between 6 – 20 treatments depending on the degree of cellulite.
Home prescription is vital, as the condition needs to be addressed everyday for the treatment to be most effective. As well as treating the cellulite the skin would be firmer stronger and healthier.
