Stretch marks like scars can be treated, they will never return the skin back to its original condition, but the treatment does improve the appearance of the stretch mark. It is believed that 90% of women will have some form of stretch marks during pregnancy.
Rapid weight gain and loss are also common causes of stretch marks in both Men and Women. Women who are overweight have more Oestrogen since it is produced in the fatty tissue. Oestrogen stimulates the fibroblasts to release collagenase (an enzyme that dissolves collagen), which is the reason that overweight people are more prone to stretch marks.
A series of treatments will be needed to get a good result and home care has to be carried out on a daily basis, as it is necessary to continue to treat the skin everyday. We would recommend that DMK EFA’s be taken to restore and regulate the hormones.
